In this presentation, Thomson will briefly explain Heidegger’s critique of the ontotheological danger and the post-modern promise of technological archivization, and then discuss Rorty’s response to his presentation of Heidegger’s view.  (Rorty and Thomson debated the subject at an international conference on the philosophy of technology held at the University of Tokyo in 2003, and Thomson explains the philosophical issues in detail in Heidegger on Ontotheology.)
